Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 4.0)
Free skill training in more than 220 job roles, with a cash incentive of around ₹8,000 on completion, accident insurance cover and placement support
This is the country's biggest free skill training scheme, covering more than 220 job roles across 38 sectors, generally for people aged 15 to 45. The training costs you nothing and ends with a government-recognised NSQF certificate, and there is usually a cash incentive of around ₹8,000 plus accident insurance cover. Along with traditional trades it now also trains people in newer areas like artificial intelligence, robotics, drone technology and the Internet of Things, and job fairs called Rozgar Melas are held for placement.
Who can apply

- Able to attend the training for the full duration of the course
- Meets the basic education requirement of the particular job role chosen
What to take with you
- Aadhaar card
- Bank passbook
- Last passed marksheet or school certificate
- Passport size photograph
How to apply
Register free on the Skill India Digital Hub at skillindiadigital.gov.in, pick a job role and a training centre near Baghpat or Baraut, and join the batch when the centre calls you.
Rejected or still waiting? Check these first
Most applications fail for a correctable reason, not because the applicant was ineligible. Before assuming you do not qualify, check each of these:
- Age is outside the range allowed for the job role chosen
- Did not attend enough of the training, so the certificate and the incentive are not released
- Aadhaar and bank details do not match, so the incentive transfer fails
Still stuck after checking all of these? Tell us what happened and we will help you work out which office to approach.
