Central Government Shramik / Labour Worker

MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act)

100 days of paid work a year for your household, at the notified daily wage rate

MGNREGA is a legal guarantee, not a favour. If an adult in a rural household asks for work, the household is entitled to up to 100 days of wage work in the year, paid at the notified daily rate. You need a job card, and you have to demand the work in writing at the Gram Panchayat. If work is not given within the time allowed, the household is entitled to an unemployment allowance.

Who can apply

  • Adult member of a rural household
  • Household has a job card, or has applied for one
  • Willing to do unskilled manual work
  • Work must be demanded in writing at the Gram Panchayat

What to take with you

  • Job card
  • Aadhaar card
  • Bank or post office passbook
  • Photograph for the job card

How to apply

Ask the Gram Panchayat in Chhaprauli for a job card, then give a written demand for work and keep the dated receipt. Job card details, work records and payment status can be checked at nrega.nic.in.

Rejected or still waiting? Check these first

Most applications fail for a correctable reason, not because the applicant was ineligible. Before assuming you do not qualify, check each of these:

  • Work was never demanded in writing, so there is no record of the demand
  • Job card details do not match the Aadhaar or bank account, so wages do not reach
  • Job card not updated with a new adult member of the household
  • Household has already completed 100 days of work in that year

Still stuck after checking all of these? Tell us what happened and we will help you work out which office to approach.
