PM Vishwakarma Yojana
A toolkit incentive of around ₹15,000, about ₹500 a day during training, and collateral-free loans up to roughly ₹3 lakh at low interest for traditional artisans
This central scheme is for people who work with their hands in a traditional trade, such as carpenters, tailors, blacksmiths and potters, across 18 recognised trades. You get skill training with a daily stipend of about ₹500 while you train, money of around ₹15,000 to buy better tools, and the option of a loan up to roughly ₹3 lakh without giving any security. The loan carries a concessional rate of interest.
Who can apply
- Working in one of the 18 recognised traditional trades, such as carpentry, tailoring, blacksmithy or pottery
- Works with hands and tools in an unorganised, self-employed capacity
- Aged 18 or above at the time of registration

- Aadhaar card
- Bank passbook
- Proof of the trade you work in
- Mobile number linked to Aadhaar
How to apply
Register at pmvishwakarma.gov.in or through the Common Service Centre in your area; the Gram Panchayat and then the district committee verify that you actually work in the trade before the benefits start.
Rejected or still waiting? Check these first
Most applications fail for a correctable reason, not because the applicant was ineligible. Before assuming you do not qualify, check each of these:
- Trade you work in is not one of the 18 recognised trades under the scheme
- Gram Panchayat or district verification did not confirm the applicant as a practising artisan
- Aadhaar is not linked to a working mobile number, so registration cannot be completed
