UP Samajik Suraksha Pension Yojana (SSPY)

₹1,000 a month paid straight into your bank account, for old age, widow and disability pension

This is the single Uttar Pradesh pension system that covers three groups: older people, widows, and persons with disability. Whichever category you fall in, the pension is ₹1,000 a month and it is sent directly to your bank account. You apply once, under the correct category, and then the money should arrive every month without you having to visit any office.

Who can apply

  • Resident of Uttar Pradesh
  • Falls under one of the three categories, old age, widow, or disability
  • From a poor household, within the income limit set for that category
  • Has a bank account in your own name, linked with Aadhaar

Who cannot apply

  • Persons already drawing a government service pension
  • Persons already receiving another pension under the same category

What to take with you

  • Aadhaar card
  • Bank passbook in your own name
  • Income certificate
  • Age proof, for the old age pension
  • Husband's death certificate, for the widow pension
  • Disability certificate, for the disability pension
  • Passport size photograph

How to apply

Apply online at sspy-up.gov.in choosing the correct category, or take your papers to the tehsil office or the District Social Welfare Office in Baghpat.

Rejected or still waiting? Check these first

Most applications fail for a correctable reason, not because the applicant was ineligible. Before assuming you do not qualify, check each of these:

  • Aadhaar not linked to the bank account, so the monthly transfer fails
  • Bank account is a joint account rather than in your own name
  • Income certificate expired, or issued in another family member's name
  • Yearly verification not completed, which stops the pension until it is done
  • Applied under the wrong category, for example old age instead of widow

Still stuck after checking all of these? Tell us what happened and we will help you work out which office to approach.
