Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM)

A guaranteed pension of ₹3,000 a month after age 60, with the government matching every rupee you put in

This is a voluntary pension for unorganised sector workers. You put in a small amount every month and the government puts in the same amount alongside it. After you turn 60 you receive a guaranteed pension of ₹3,000 every month for life. The younger you join, the smaller your monthly contribution is.

Who can apply

  • Unorganised sector worker
  • Not a member of EPFO, ESIC or NPS
  • Not an income tax payer
  • Has a savings bank account and Aadhaar

Who cannot apply

  • Workers covered by EPFO, ESIC or NPS
  • Income tax payers

What to take with you

  • Aadhaar card
  • Savings bank account or Jan Dhan account passbook
  • Mobile number

How to apply

Enrol at maandhan.in, or take your Aadhaar and bank passbook to a Common Service Centre, where the operator will register you and set up the monthly contribution.

Rejected or still waiting? Check these first

Most applications fail for a correctable reason, not because the applicant was ineligible. Before assuming you do not qualify, check each of these:

  • Worker is already covered under EPFO, ESIC or NPS
  • Monthly contribution stops because the bank account does not have enough balance
  • Aadhaar and bank account details do not match
